My journey on the healer’s path has been a combination of intentional education and subconscious intake from my life teachers, of whom I’ve been blessed with many. From a young age my mother made every effort to fill our family’s bodies with fresh, organic, nutritious food, from our own garden when the season allowed. She kept a large compost pile in our backyard, showing us how to curb our waste production and recycle that which can, back into the earth. When we were sick she opted for naturopathic and homeopathic remedies, that worked both to relieve symptoms and nurture our constitutional dispositions. With this upbringing I left my New England hometown for a new chapter out west in the lively, progressive town of Fort Collins.
Through my Health and Exercise Science undergraduate degree I learned that stress, both mental and physical, is one of the biggest players in not only our quality of life but overall health. I put these lessons to work in my personal life by discovering yoga and meditation, continuing to play soccer (a lifelong joy), and becoming immersed with the vibrant local food movement of Fort Collins. I found rewarding work at a family-run vegetarian restaurant and a local CSA vegetable farm, both of which provided me with many nutritious meals and life lessons as I was figuring out how to care for myself independently.
It was through undergraduate interning that I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine, by shadowing numerous practitioners both in Fort Collins, CO and Chicago, IL.
I soon realized how incredibly diverse this medical model was, both in practitioner’s approach and potential health breakthroughs for patients.
My return to graduate school was not rushed, but calculated. I enjoyed a few years of work with my friend and mentor expanding her own TCM practice, and at my community’s CSA farm; this deepened my connection to the earth, it’s cycles, and how to live in unison with seasonal change. I dove deeper into my meditation practice, earning my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate. By the time my enrollment at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine came I was nervous, but motivated and excited for what was to come.
Three grueling years of school tested everything I had come to know about self care; taking time for yourself, prioritizing quality sleep, eating with intention as opposed to desperation, freeing the mind of anxious thoughts and to-do lists, etc. Ironically, the whole process took a serious toll on my physical and mental health, forcing me to seek the help of others to bring me back into balance. This puzzle piece had been missing from my relatively healthy life thus far; that sometimes we find ourselves unhealthy, out of touch with ourselves and unsure of what exactly we need, but that you can’t do it alone. I am here to help you navigate this process, heal and find balance, adapt lifestyle changes that are right for you.
I am here to help you bloom to your fullest potential.
